Export campaign gets off to flying start

Gleadell Agriculture's 2008-9 export campaign gets off to a flying start as the MV Suntis loads 1,870 mt of feed wheat bound for Poland from Chatham Docks on the Medway.

David Sheppard, Gleadell's managing director commented: "With harvest under way, we are likely to be looking at an exportable surplus of around 3mln/t of wheat, so we have got off to a flying start in the south with a cargo of old crop feed wheat out of Chatham and feed barley out of Southampton this week - and our first oilseed rape ship from the south coast loading next week.

"We will continue our export programme with barley and oilseed rape shipments from Lowestoft, Lincolnshire and other ports loading over the next ten days or so."
