Farms hit with EU subsidy cut

Six large farms in Wales will see their subsidy cheques cut as a result of last week’s CAP Health Check agreement, the Assembly Government has revealed.

The EC agreed higher rates of compulsory modulation but this will have little impact for most Welsh farmers as the increases will be matched by an equivalent reduction in voluntary modulation raised by Cardiff.

However farmers receiving a single farm payment of more than 300,000 euros will face an additional 4% rate of compulsory modulation.
