Firearms licensing service at BASC roadshow
Visitors to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation’s (BASC) Northern Roadshow at the Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on Friday the 12th of November will be able to apply for a shotgun or firearms certificate at the event, have background checks carried out and receive a decision in principle from the police on the night.
The service will be offered by the North Yorkshire police firearms licensing team, who will also be able to process requests for renewals and variations of certificates and generate a new certificate on site. The team will answer queries, check applications and offer advice.
BASC Northern regional director, Phil Pugh said "This is a valuable opportunity for people to meet their local firearms licensing team and to have the majority of their certificate applications and renewals dealt with there and then, leaving only home security checks to be conducted later.
We are delighted that Dave Coutts, firearms licensing manager for North Yorkshire, and his team are making such a positive effort to engage with license holders and applicants. It tops off what promises to be a complete evening out for the shooting fan."
Other highlights of the roadshow include Bill Harriman, Antiques Roadshow expert and BASC director of firearms who will offer a free valuation service for shooting memorabilia and antique guns. Countryman, broadcaster and author Sir Johnny Scott will be there promoting his new book "A Book of Britain".
There will be a deer-trophy measuring service and a wide range of trade stands offering goods and services. Game cookery will be showcased by Simon Crannage, chef at the Swinton Park estate. A licensed bar will be available throughout the event.
