Former farming editor to address NFU conference

Steve Dubé, former Editor of the Western Mail’s Country & Farming Supplement, will be guest speaker at the NFU Cymru Carmarthenshire Conference on Tuesday, 31 January 2012.

Steve Dubé is a resident of Pencader and was Farming Editor and feature writer for the Western Mail from 2003 until his retirement in 2011 having previously been west Wales correspondent for the Western Mail from 1989 to 2003. In 2008 Steve received the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship to investigate ’Farming in Europe without subsidies’ and visited farms in France, Germany, Austria and Slovenia as well as interviewing former EU Commissioners for Agriculture Franz Fischler and Mariann Fischer-Boel.

Held in the Halliwell Centre, Trinity College, Carmarthen, the meeting will commence at 7.30pm. NFU Cymru members are invited to listen to Mr Dubé share his experiences of how the farming industry is portrayed in the media and how the agricultural industry and the press interact with each other. Mr Dubé will also answer questions on the subject.
