Gov t firms beef up agriculture dev t fund

Government corporations have infused close to P600 million in the Agricultural Guarantee Fund Pool (AGFP), which provides small farmers with access to cheap loans, Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap said.

Yap said at a forum that government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and government financial institutions (GFIs) had remitted P588 million to state-owned Land Bank of the Philippines, the institutional manager of the AGFP.
