Govindacharya pitches for traditional farming to avoid inflation
Former BJP general secretary and national convener of Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan, KN Govindacharya has suggested enhancing traditional farming in order to defend inflation.
The former BJP general secretary however felt that a sharp shift towards traditional agriculture in the country would arrest the rise in inflation and check the surging prices of essential items.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Govindacharya said improved storage facility of farm products and a systematic distribution of food grains among the poor and needy people would go a long way in tackling the starvation problem of the country.
"A new Price Commission involving farmers and pressurizing the industries to publish the production and market cost of their products would be the perfect solution to bridge the gap between the rich and poor people of the country," he added.
He suggested that people's representatives at grassroots level should be a part of the 'Electoral College' to elect the President and Vice President of the country.
