Govt loans urged to kick-start farming
There is a growing push for the Federal Government to offer special loans to farmers to help them take advantage of the improved seasonal conditions.
The idea has been suggested by a member of the New South Wales Shires Association.
Federal independent Member for New England Tony Windsor says he will write to Agriculture Minister Tony Burke and ask him to consider the plan.
Mr Windsor says the farming community is struggling to finance the latest crop and the idea would help many to get back into production.
"I think the concept is a good one," he said.
