Grain storage treatment has no usage restrictions
K-Obiol, a liquid grain storage treatment which is fully approved by millers/maltsters and delivered to farms by Nickerson Direct has become the only product on the market with no usage restrictions. This follows Syngenta’s decision to withdraw its recommendation covering Actellic 50EC (pirimiphos-
methyl) for the treatment of grain store structures with effect from 31st January 2010.
K-Obiol is available in two formulations, both of which will be on display at the LAMMA Show at Newark on 20th and 21st January, where Nickerson Direct Seed Specialists will be on-hand to provide advice.
K-Obiol EC25 is a modern pyrethroid formulation containing Deltamethrin, which is synergised with piperonyl-butoxide to give excellent long-term control of all stored product insect pests known to infect grain and pulses in the UK, a single treatment providing up to 12 months protection against re-infection. Fully- approved by millers and maltsters, it can be used for pre-harvest treatment of the fabric of buildings which are used to store grain, as well as the grain itself. K-Obiol EC25 is fast-acting, killing pests within hours of application and allowing flexible movement of grain out of store. Accepted by the National Association of British and Irish Millers (NABIM) and by the Brewing Research Institute (BRI), the product offers extremely low terminal residues, has no withholding period and is supplied in one-litre bottles.
K-Obiol ULV 6, a ready-to-use formulation for the treatment of grain going into store using bespoke application equipment, offers greater convenience and a saving in labour, making it more suitable for larger cereal growers. The product is available from Nickerson and can also be delivered direct to farms.
Alastair Moore of Nickerson Direct comments: "Farmers have very little choice in terms of the products which are used in grain stores. K-Obiol is currently the only multi-purpose product available and because it meets all requirements fulfils a critical requirement.
