The first partial HFA payments should start reaching hill farmers in England this week. The RPA is due to pay out 75% of the full value of each claim, amounting to a total of £5.32 million, which is being paid to 2590 claimants. The payment per hectare is slightly higher this year than last, because of a reduction in the claimed area. The payment on the first 350 ha of enclosed SDA land goes up by 6% to £37.31/ha (reduced by half on hectares over 350), and on moorland and common land to £14.12/ha (£7.06 on ha over 350).
