The first of a series of weekly Thursday night sales of hoggets at Shrewsbury Auction Centre was held last week when a small entry sold to a good trade.
Prices peaked at £90 per head for 55 kilo hoggets from Messrs C. J. and L. M. Davies, Pulverbatch.
"We look forward to attracting larger entries in the coming weeks, as these Thursday night sales are well supported by major wholesalers and abattoirs," said Nick Hyne, a director of Halls who manages Shrewsbury Auction Centre.
