Horticulture Australia has joined forces with Citrus Growers South Australia to build a team of financial and farming advisers in the Riverland.
Riverland citrus industry development officer Kim Thiel says an independent group is needed to advise Riverland irrigators who are making important decisions about the future of their properties.
Mr Thiel says he expects some group members to come from Adelaide, but most will be sourced locally because they understand the challenges facing the region.
"We're really looking for a mixed group, so if there are some confidentiality issues and some locals don't like dealing with other locals we can have outside people from outside the district," he said.
