NEW DELHI: Indian Agriculture and Food Minister Sharad Pawar on Friday said the country is in no hurry to import wheat as buffer stock this season.
Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of a function organized by FICCI here Pawar said "by and large, we are satisfied with the buffer stock position compared to the norms. So there is no urgency".
The minister said the government is watching the international market closely and pointed out that many countries are facing shortage that has affected international markets, especially the major producers of the grain.
