The celebrations took place in Laverda"e;s headquarters on Tuesday 29 July 2008. Laverda"e;s 5,000th "new series" combine, an M 304 SP, stood in pride of place in front of the corporate museum, where all the staff members took part in the festivities in a group photo with the protagonist of the day, before toasting the event.
Mario Scapin, the Managing Director, thanked all the employees who contributed had towards this important result.
Because "success is the fruit of dedicated involvement and active participation in all Laverda"e;s projects," he declared.
After 2007 closed with excellent results, with over 810 machines manufactured and placed on the market during the year, 2008 got off to a good start. Moreover, a further 20% growth is expected thanks to the favourable conditions. As Scapin explained, the Italian market is on the upswing thanks to a good trend in the self-levelling combine segment, while we are obtaining a great deal of satisfaction from France, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Spain.
The pioneering incentive that characterized the new M Special Power Series contributed in an essential way to our goal of 5,000 machines manufactured. This series, with the exclusive "Laverda" system (GSAX, PFR, MCS Plus and Commodore Cab) and modern, attractive design, did a lot to attract the customers"e; attention.
"We were able to produce such a large number of these combines, and we expect to go well beyond the 1,000 mark by the end of 2008, as 15% more staff members have been recruited and thanks to the increasingly better way in which the plant is organized," added Roberto Zuech, manager of the production, supply chain and computer systems areas, who concluded his short speech by reminding the listeners that an even greater commitment will be required in 2009.
There was an agreeable interlude when a poem, specially composed by an enthusiastic employee in February 1971 to celebrate the 5,000th M 120 manufactured in the Laverda plant, was read for the occasion.
Once the formal part had concluded, the celebrations continued in a light-hearted way with music, finger food and the good wine of Breganze.
