Livestock producers gather for special conference

More than 100 livestock producers will be gathering for a special conference at the NFU next Monday to discuss the opportunities facing the sector.

A range of issues will be on discussion including production, markets, business and technical developments in the beef and sheep industries.

Speakers for the event include Head of Agriculture at HSBC, Allan Wilkinson, Professor David Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing, Imperial College London, and Adrian Ivory.

NFU livestock board chairman Charles Sercombe said: "It’s absolutely essential that we have a vibrant and positive industry with young people at the heart of it. That’s why we’re having this conference – to get more young producers motivated, inspired and enthusiastic and more importantly, talking to each other about the shape of the livestock industry in the future."

"There is an excellent line-up of key-note speakers and we’ve had a fantastic response with more than 100 people booked in so far. I really believe it will be a successful and enjoyable day and I look forward to meeting the young people who will drive our industry forward in the decades to come."
