LSM provides perfect baling solution to Kelshall Plastics

Royston based firm Kelshall Plastics recently took delivery of its new Kerrush WRH600H Baler from Irish manufacturer LSM Engineering. With the busiest farming period in progress and due to continue until August; Kelshall play a pivotal role in their local community by collecting waste from the surrounding 350 plus farms in the area.

Kelshall found that they could not cope with the vast amounts of waste coming in and that their baler operator hand-loading machines simply could not keep up with the jobs that were coming in. As a result, they were struggling to meet their weekly collection targets.

The decision was made to purchase the Kerrush WRH600 from LSM and as a result, they have seen vast improvements in terms of space and efficiency. With the baler’s introduction, 25% more bales are produced each day than by the two previous existing balers combined.

In addition, floor space has been minimised and there has been a noticeable increase in pay loads for transport. By being fitted with a telescopic handler labour costs have also decreased. Kelshall’s overall waste has now been reduced by 60 to 70% as a result of this change.

Roger Ward, Kelshall Plastics Director, "We have grown so rapidly during the past 12 months that we were totally taken aback by the waste produced from the 80,000ha we cover. Our problems were compounded by having to move premises at the height of our busiest time."

John Cummings, LSM Engineering Managing Director, "Our range of balers are world-class and this is demonstrated by the savings we have made for Kelshall Plastics. This contract is testament to the very high standards we strive to achieve at LSM and the service we provide to our customers."
