Axel Foellmer has been appointed managing director of Lohmann Animal Health's south-east Asian operations, based at the company's regional head office in Bangkok, Thailand.
His main task will be to develop key and emerging markets for Lohmann's extensive range of poultry vaccines, particularly in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia. In addition, his wider brief will take in countries such as India, Pakistan and Vietnam, where there are fast-developing poultry industries.
After graduating with an economics degree from the University of Bochum, Germany, Axel held a number of senior management and marketing posts with international companies and, having worked in Asia 'on and off' for 20 years, has immense experience with the culture, business style and challenges of this region.
Married, with an Asian wife and young daughter, he lists his spare-time hobbies as photography, windsurfing and jogging.
