Milk link produces strong results at show

Milk Link, the UK’s leading farmer-owned dairy co-operative and largest cheese manufacturer, produced another strong set of results at yesterday’s Royal Highland Show, being awarded the title of ’Reserve Supreme Champion’ for the Stilton produced at its Tuxford and Tebbutt Creamery.

Milk Link received a further 13 awards including the title of ’Best Specialty Cheese’ for Tuxford and Tebbutt’s Stilton; a gold for Tuxford and Tebbutt in the Blue Cheese category; two golds for Taw Valley Creamery in the Mature Cheddar and the Traditional Mature Cheddar categories; silver for Tuxford and Tebbutt for its Blue Stilton; silver for Taw Valley Creamery’s cheddar; silver for Lockerbie in the Half-Fat Cheese category; and both silver and bronze for Llandyrnog in the Mild Cheddar category.

The strong set of results delighted the Chief Executive of Milk Link, Neil Kennedy who said: "Our expert cheese makers deserve this recognition for their flair, dedication and skills, which deliver the really exceptional taste and quality of our products.

"The acknowledgement here at the Royal Highland Show for the excellence of our Tuxford and Tebbutt and Lockerbie Creameries, in particular, makes me and everyone involved with Milk Link very proud. It also makes us determined to build on this success at future shows, which are so important to the British dairy industry and in particular to our farmers."

Milk Link produces a range of branded cheeses and butters, including Tickler, a fabulous extra-mature Cheddar produced in the heart of Devon; Lockerbie Cheddar and Butter, unique products with a special kick and "a wee bit of bite"; and the Cadog range of Welsh cheeses. The company also manufactures over 20 varieties of Cheddars, blue Stiltons and British regional cheeses for the retail, food service and ingredients sectors.
