Minimum Tillage guides available

A new minimum tillage advisory guide will be available free from Kuhn Farm Machinery at the 2006 Tillage Event demonstrations in Cambridgeshire (12 September) and Angus (10 October).

The comprehensive 40-page publication covers the economics, agronomic principles and practical aspects of minimum tillage, including comparative costs and machinery requirements for four alternative approaches.

"Factors such as soil type and cropping system determine the optimum approach to take with minimum tillage," says Kuhn UK technical sales manager Robert Garthwaite. "In the guide we have distilled this into four concepts in order to allow farmers to determine a system that is closest to their best approach and assess the methods and relative cost implications."

The guide also provides descriptions of Kuhn's specialist minimum tillage equipment, which now includes a range of non-powered cultivators, drills such as the Fastliner series, and shredders for residue management.

Copies of Kuhn's Minimum Tillage Guide can be obtained by visiting the company's stand at either of this year's Tillage Event demonstrations.
