Natural extracts help horses’ respiratory function
Autumn and winter is traditionally a time when respiratory problems occur in stabled horses. These can be triggered by humid weather with fluctuating temperatures or as a result of poor-quality bedding — particularly following a damp harvest, as was the case this year.
EquiBoost is a unique natural herbal blend which improves both the respiratory and kidney functions of horses.
Supplied by G E Baker (UK) Ltd, Woolpit, Suffolk, its active ingredients come from a variety of herbs including Echinacea purpurea (purple coneflower) Tussilago farfara (coltsfoot), Eucalyptus globulus (blue gum) and Pimpinella anisum (aniseed). These contain properties which have an anti-inflammatory effect in the respiratory tract and also dissolve mucus, allowing more oxygen into the blood, thus enhancing the horse’s health and performance.
In addition, the herb extracts improve the immune system by enhancing the antibody response. The herbs have also been shown to have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effects. But, since the product is entirely natural, there is no danger of a build-up of resistance.
Developed in Belgium, where it has been thoroughly tested, 10ml of EquiBoost per horse is simply poured over the feed on a daily basis. It is supplied in 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre containers with an easy-dispensing facility, priced at £9.95, £14.95 and £19.95 respectively.
