Rumenco has launched a new, high specification feed supplement product to provide horses and ponies with the full range of nutrients they need to balance pasture and other forages.
Fed in conjunction with forage feeds, SUPAlyx Horse & Pony contains protein, minerals, vitamins, garlic for its beneficial effects on blood circulation and the digestion improving qualities of XP yeast. The new product will promote good health and vitality in all classes of horses and ponies, the company says.
"SUPAlyx Horse & Pony contains a wide range of special additives with proven benefits for all equine classes," says Rumenco technical manager David Thornton.
"Horses and ponies are kept under a wide variety of conditions, but what is common to all husbandry situations is a dependence on grass in the summer and conserved forages in the winter. However, because of modern farming practices these staple feeds do not provide all the nutrients that horses and ponies require. SUPAlyx bridges the nutrient gap and is the ideal forage feed supplement whether your horse is for leisure, racing or a brood mare with foal.
"The supplement is also ideal when your horse or pony requires building up or is in poor condition. It will help give the coat bloom, boost the immune system and enhance digestive efficiency, as well as containing chelated zinc and biotin to improve hoof structure and durability. Feeding SUPAlyx alongside forages or straight feeds will also help offset metabolic problems such as colic, tying up or laminitis," David Thornton points out.
Rumenco says one 12.5kg SUPAlyx bucket should be enough for five horses or ponies. Daily intakes may be up to 400g per head but this is influenced by the range and quality of other feeds on offer, as well as the age and work load of the horses that have access to the supplement.
