New Khun shredders extend working options

New machines at both ends of the size spectrum in addition to hydraulic left hand side offsetting on most models should give Kuhn's updated VKM flail mower range even broader appeal across agricultural and amenity sectors.

At the top end, the Telford-based company has added the 6.1 metre hydraulically folding VKM 610, whilst 1.7 and 1.9 metre models extend the range for smaller scale operators. Both of the new smaller models, plus the established 2.1, 2.4, 2.8 and 3.05 metre machines, can now be hydraulically offset to the left via a sliding tube on the hitch frame, making them suitable for roadside maintenance.

The VKM shredders are based on a system of forged steel bevelled hammer knives working against a welded comb counter bar and a second straight counter bar, which is bolted in place. This design gives the machines their robust and universal operating capability, making them suitable for shredding grass, undergrowth, stubbles, plant residue and light wood.

All models feature a helical arrangement of the hammer knives on the rotor, which ensures a more even rotation cycle, thereby reducing vibration and power requirement and increasing suction effect.

The 6.1 metre folding VKM 610 is priced from £12,560 whilst the smaller VKM machines start at £3,510.
