New pesticide rules move a step closer

TALKS to agree strict new rules on pesticide use in Europe have moved a step closer, Farmers Guardian has learned.

According to a source in Brussels, the French presidency is confident that talks with European Parliament and Commission representatives will culminate in a compromise text after a meeting tonight (Wednesday, December 17).

"The Parliament and presidency are nearing each other’s position and I expect a text to be agreed by Thursday morning," said the source.
