New vaccinator gun for bluetongue vaccine

To support the introduction of its bluetongue vaccine, Bovilis® BTV8, Intervet has sourced a specific 1ml vaccinator gun. In order to make both the vaccine and gun available to the market as quickly as possible, the gun was shipped directly from an overseas manufacturer and arrived in the UK on 1st May. The vaccinator is compatible with only the 50ml dose bottle, and not the 20ml bottle of vaccine due to the small vial size.

Producers using the 20ml bottle should use a normal bottle-mounted vaccinator gun and still administer a measured 1ml dose. Alternatively conventional syringes and needles may be used.
