NFU Cymru sponsors Brecknock YFC stockjudging
NFU Cymru Brecon and Radnor County Chairman, Gwyn Price, presented a £200 cheque to Brecknock Federation of Young Farmers Clubs recently at the youth movement’s annual field day.
The one day event, which attracted over 100 young people from across the county, was held recently at Brecon Livestock Market where YFC members took part in competitions for ATV Safety and Handling, fence erecting and Junior Farm Safety.
Gwyn Price, NFU Cymru Brecon and Radnor County Chairman said, "NFU Cymru has given a firm commitment this year towards improving the awareness of on-farm safety. Not only are these YFC competitions, more importantly they enhance transferable skills, which can be used back on the farm.
"The YFC movement is the future of our industry and we are delighted to make this contribution which goes such a long way towards helping members improve their knowledge of the industry overall whilst thinking about farm safety."
Accepting the cheque, Brecknock YFC Chairman, Vicky Hope said, "NFU Cymru has supported the organisation for a number of years and we are very grateful for their continuous support. It is heartening that we can work closely with NFU Cymru, as more often than not we are working towards the same goal within rural Wales."
