NFU roadshow visits Royal Welsh Show

Celebrity farmer, Johnny Ball and his NFU Let’s Talk Farming roadshow will be visiting the Royal Welsh Show, in Builth Wells later this month.

Johnny Ball, famous for his poems about the Show in years gone by, will be on hand to entertain and inform the crowds next to the main ring from the Monday right through to the Thursday.

First launched in 1999, the roadshow has been given a complete makeover with farming-related designs to make it stand out as it travels across the country. Features in the new design include a farmland stage with an astroturf floor, landscape backdrop with video footage of farm animals, tractors and crops, straw bale and cow-hide seats.

Let’s Talk Farming aims to provide information to the public on farming. The roadshow also tells the story of how food moves from the farm to the dinner table and how farmers are meeting environmental challenges while providing great tasting food. It also includes an activity booklet for children as well as a Let’s Sow Seeds pack so visitors can try their hand at growing a variety of salad leaves at their own home.

NFU Cymru President, Ed Bailey, always looks forward to welcoming Johnny Ball back to Wales. He said, "Johnny Ball is an asset to the NFU. In a subtle and entertaining way he informs all ages about what we do as farmers and how their food is produced. It is always worth a visit to the NFU Let’s Talk Farming roadshow."
