No health concerns regarding beef on the market

The Department of Agriculture has said there’s no public health concern regarding any Irish beef on the market.

No beef products are to be recalled after tests were carried out on 11 herds from 45 restricted farms that may have received contaminated feed.

Three of the herds were found to have dioxin levels two or three times above the legal limit, compared with levels up to 200 times above safe limits found in pork over the weekend.

The cattle involved will be taken out of the food chain and will not be released onto the market.
