Geneva - Global agricultural subsidies declined by 2 percentage points last year from 2005. to a total of $268 billion (R1.8 trillion), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said yesterday.
But the drop is due mainly to rising world food prices rather than changes in policies, as less support was provided to prop up domestic prices, the OECD says in a report released yesterday.
The OECD groups 36 developed countries.
