Wide variation of sowing rates on the move is now possible on Kuhn's Venta pneumatic grain drills following the development of the MDC (Modulation Dose
Control) electronic metering facility.
The device, which offers the scope to adjust seed rate by as much as 60% above or below the standard setting whilst the drill is operating, can be included as an option on new drills or retro-fitted. It is compatible with all Venta models, which include AL, LC, SD direct drills and the BTF rear tool bar /TF front tank combinations.
Seed rate adjustment using the MDC device is achieved in pre-set steps, which can be of 5%, 10% or 15% upwards or downwards of the reference setting. An override function is included with the equipment, allowing the drill to be used conventionally if required.
The MDC facility is compatible with the major precision farming systems. In such circumstances it would function as a slave unit in combination with systems such as Fieldstar, ACT, Agrotronix or RDS for example.
The MDC Modulation Dose Control unit as an option on new Venta drills or as a retro-fitted device for older drills costs £1,095 plus VAT.
