After over a decade in the precision farming sector, agronomy and crop protection specialist Agrovista is seeing a huge amount of interest in its re-launched Agrovista Precision Services offer, reports the company.
"The response to our new offer in conjunction with our provider has exceeded our expectations and we are not only sampling land for new entrants to precision farming, but also switching growers from their existing suppliers based on our high level of traceability and technical service," commented Chris Glover, Agrovista’s head of chargeable services.
Agrovista believes it has the most comprehensive range of precision farming tools and advice of any supplier in the UK, coupled with systems which record individual sample cores for full traceability from soil sampling, not just the centre of samples taken. The range of on-farm analysis and laboratory services on offer is staggering but the ability to understand what is going on and how to manage the situation is vital. In addition, the input of precision farming expert Clive Blacker provides growers with unrivalled access to expertise on all aspects of precision farming and makes compatibility worries between hardware and software a thing of the past. Many growers have combines that produce yield maps, but too few are using the data to fully understand what it is telling them and even fewer are then spending time investigating why yield differs.
"Growers face quite a few issues where precision farming is concerned – firstly, working out what the most appropriate approach is for their individual farm; secondly, how to make that hardware and software work; and crucially, what to do with the data once they have it.
