The CLA welcomes Leader of the Opposition David Cameron on his statement that if elected the Conservatives would facilitate a fibre optic broadband network. But the CLA will push for further action on strong investment in this network.
CLA President Henry Aubrey-Fletcher said: "It is good to know that, politicians from all the major parties are supporting what the CLA has been calling for over the last six years - a high speed information highway through a fibre optic broadband network.
"The CLA believes David Cameron could go further still by making a commitment to significant investment, putting fibre optic in place is a step towards creating our future, ensuring a competitive business environment. Without Government investment, supported by the private sector, the nirvana of UK-wide fibre optic broadband will remain a dream."
The CLA President added: "All of us, whether we live in rural or urban areas, have a right to the best possible communication infrastructure including broadband."
