Royal Show ends on a high

More than 114,000 people attended the last ever Royal Show which closed its gates at Stoneleigh Park for the last time on Friday July 10th. That was 17,500 more visitors than in 2008.

"We were delighted to attract so many visitors to this very special Royal Show" said RASE Marketing and Communications Director, Denis Chamberlain. "We know that good business was done at the Show and that the very high standards of livestock were maintained to the very end in a magnificent show and parade of cattle, sheep and pigs."

The RASE trade awards, which are awarded to best exhibit in each area of the Show, were won by:

Best Agricultural Machinery, Implement or Equipment Exhibit – Farol

Best Agricultural Business Exhibit – Glenside Group

Best Horticultural Exhibit (Including Flower Show) – Evergreen (Derek Barnes)

Best Equine Trade Exhibit – Harper Adams University College

Best Motoring Trade Exhibit - DHL Inside Track (Peugeot)

Best Retail Exhibit (including Supermarkets) – Co-Op Food

Most Informative Stand in Show – Waitrose

Although this was the last ever Royal Show, The Royal Agricultural Society of England has announced a programme of events and initiatives which will keep it at the centre of knowledge transfer, technical innovation and the management of countryside change to the long-term benefit of agriculture and the rural economy.
