RUSSIA-PORK PRODUCTION.

Russian pork production is expected to increase 4 percent

in 2009, due in most part to large investments in swine production in 2007-08,

higher reproductive yields and government measures to curb imports, according

to a U.S. Department of Agriculture attache report posted Thursday on the

Foreign Agricultural Services Web site. The pig crop is expected to increase by

4.3 percent in 2009 and will equal 43.6 million pigs.
