RUSSIA-MORE RESTRICTIVE PRACTICES ON MEAT IMPORTS.
Monitoring research of meat products imported to Russia from some US, Spanish and Hungarian enterprises showed the content in them of such harmful forbidden substances as Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria, antibiotics and some other drugs. Thus starting from March 27, 2009, Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) banned meat product imports from five foreign plants, as their products didn’t meet Russian safety and quality standards, Rosselkhoznadzor’s press-service reports.
Thus, products produced at the aforementioned enterprises and shipped to Russia prior to March 27, 2009 will be licensed for entry to the country only after a close laboratory testing.
Moreover, territorial departments of Rosselkhoznadzor will carry out complex inspections at the enterprises controlled by the veterinary supervision in order to detect there products produced at those plants and stop distribution of imported dangerous goods.
