Russia and Japan won’t import poultry that was produced in Kentucky because low-pathogenic bird flu was found there in a broiler breeding operation, U.S. Department of Agriculture officials said Tuesday. About 20,000 chickens were culled at the Kentucky facility after the low-pathogenic H7N9 type of bird flu was confirmed during routine inspections, USDA spokeswoman Angela Harless said. Low-pathogenic bird flu is isn’t dangerous to humans.
