Serbian farmers on a recent tour of Wales were keen to meet with NFU Cymru leaders to see and learn how we do things here as they had just formed their own farming union and wanted advice and guidance.
YFC Cymru hosted the fact-finding visit from two Serbian farmers, two Serbian UNFAO project leaders and Jim Airey, the UK project leader, as they were also in the process of setting up a YFC style network of clubs.
Dai Davies, NFU Cymru Vice President met with the group to describe the work of NFU Cymru and listened to the Serbian farmers when they explained how farming in Serbia was previously state-controlled and as a result of this breaking down they are now developing their own agriculture industry with most farms being approximately 3-4 hectares.
John Davies, NFU Cymru County Chairman for Brecon and Radnor then welcomed the group onto his farm near Brecon for them to see for themselves how a farm is run here in Wales.
Dai Davies said, "It was a very interesting meeting and although it was the Serbian farmers who were here to learn, I got a lot out of the meeting and it was fascinating to hear about their experiences."
