Solving power demand issues within agricultural environments
With the increasing pressures on farmers to improve lead times, the volume of machinery in use has increased. Being able to supply orders quicker than other farms provides a significant competitive advantage.
Over the last two months Carter Sullivan has worked closely with two major farming groups to provide practical solutions that ensure power is available at all times.
The requirements for these projects were met through the installation of bespoke Low Voltage Panels with integrated Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
Carter Sullivan’s in-house team developed full design specifications for the physical panel layouts and the electrical signaling infrastructures.
Carter Sullivan has worked with agricultural businesses since 2005 and specialises in creating bespoke back-up power solutions for their premises and equipment.
These solutions ensure power is available at all times.
The panels were both connected to the available mains supply and a diesel generator. The first system, connected to grain dryers and fans was commissioned to start the generator when the mains power was nearing capacity and provide power for up to half the load, whilst synchronising with the mains supply.
The second system was designed to power the entire site. It was able to transfer the full load to a generator until the demand for power reduced and to provide power when mains outages occurred. This would ensure power was available at all times.
