Can declining agriculture in the State make a turnaround? The Central government seems to think so.
The Task Force on Agriculture set up by the Central government has made several recommendations to the State Government to pump life into agriculture and allied activities of Goa which is slowly giving way to other sectors.
It wants Goa to follow an integrated approach by promoting pissiculture, dairy farming, etc along with traditional farming and horticulture.
The recommendations are under consideration of the State government, said Director of Agriculture S S P Tendulkar to Herald.
The task force wants agricultural growth rate up by 4 per cent by undertaking integrated initiatives.
