Sweepex makes light work of jobs at Avington Farm

Park Farm, Avington near Winchester has found Broadwood’s SweepEx modular brush system an indispensable tool for a wide range of sweeping and manège applications around the farm, stables and golf course. The 550-acre farm uses the SweepEx mounted on the front of an Aebi Swiss mountain tractor for general sweeping with several rows of bristles removed the unit is then used for manège levelling and other applications.

Encompassing a 30 acre, nine-hole, parkland golf course; a car park for 40 cars, paths and also a grain storage and cleaning plant, the Broadwood SweepEx is used for a wide range of tasks. These include levelling out 15mm gravel in the car park and driveway, sweeping up the grain store, helping to brush in top dressings on the greens and sweeping paths. In addition, proprietor, Robert Stent, is also planning the use the brush attached to the back of his rotary mower for creating stripes on the golf course and local football pitch.

“It is an excellent multi-purpose sweeping tool”, says Robert Stent. “We are able to use for all sorts of tasks and it certainly does everything they say it will do and probably more”.

Easily attached to existing equipment such as skid-steers, forklifts, loader buckets, 3-point hitches or pick-up trucks using a heavy-duty mount, SweepEx has no moving parts, which means maintenance and downtime are practically non-existent. The compact design allows a powerful sweeping action both forwards and backwards allowing rapid, efficient and economical sweeping of large areas.

Able to withstand the severest environments, SweepEx’s broom heads and mounting hardware are manufactured from industrial strength steel, with heavy-duty powder coat finish. The easily and quickly replaceable hi-grade polypropylene brush section has eleven rows of 30cm bristles for effective sweeping. Very robust, the brushes will provide around 450 miles of sweeping before they need changing.
