While the price of raw material continues to go up, the cost of using Tamanet Edge to Edge is actually coming down. Leading round bale netwrap producer Tama Plastics has introduced a further development of its highly successful Tamanet Edge to Edge® round bale netwrap with Tamanet Pro-Tec 3600, a net with a guaranteed 3600m length, 20 per cent longer than the 'standard' 3000m white net currently available.
The net, a longer version of the hugely successful Tamanet Edge to Edge 3150m XL netwrap, offers the end user considerable cost saving and benefits from less roll handling and baler down-time. The major benefit of such a move in the netwrap market is to produce the same number of bales from fewer rolls of net, thus giving obvious savings in product, packaging and wasted down-time through less frequent roll changes.
Advances in raw material and manufacturing techniques have allowed such a huge step, without taking the roll dimensions beyond the specifications for any round baler. Roll weights are also kept to a minimum and customers are further assisted by Tama's unique innovation of roll handles to make carrying the roll easier and safer.
'This new technology from Tama Plastics will ensure farmers and contractors enjoy the benefits of Tamanet Edge to Edge at lower costs next season,' explains Keith Ockenden, sales director of UAT Ltd.
'A wide-ranging and comprehensive test programme was carried out throughout Europe during the 2005 baling season. Significant quantities of rolls were used in all makes of baler in all crops and conditions, returning very positive results throughout. These were confirmed by independent trials carried out by German testing bodies DLG and Signum, which showed the benefits of using this product will bring more efficiency to the baling process,' he adds.
All too often an end user will make a decision to buy based on the price of the roll of netwrap instead of the more accurate and valid point of considering the cost per bale. If many more bales can be made with fewer rolls, then the overall spend on netwrap in a season will be less, thus considerably lowering the actual cost per bale, even taking into account the obvious roll price differences.
An end user could achieve a saving of six rolls when baling 10,000 bales per year by using Tamanet Pro-Tec 3600, compared to a roll of standard 3000m plain net. Added to this huge saving, Pro-Tec is manufactured with Tama's unique and patented Edge to Edge technology, that allows the net to spread wider on the bale than standard conventional netwrap. This produces fully protected bales without the fluffy shoulders associated with other, standard makes of netwrap, meaning many, many more perfect bales.
