Target: Agricultural self-sufficiency

All departments and agencies under the Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries Ministry have been directed to look into ways of increasing agricultural production to achieve self-sufficiency.

The earliest target is to be 80% self-sufficient by the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP), said its minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"Malaysia is a fertile country and there is no reason why we cannot produce sufficient vegetables, fruits and meat for our needs.
