The Co-operative adds premium apple juice to the grown by us range

The Co-operative has launched a new premium apple juice made from Cox’s apples grown on its farm in Herefordshire.

Truly Irresistible British Cox’s apple juice is available now in larger Co-operative food stores priced £2.30 for a litre. It is the latest addition to the "Grown by us" range, which features products produced by The Co-operative Farms.

The British Cox’s apple juice is made with 100% Cox’s Orange Pippin apples, grown and harvested on The Co-operative farm at Tillington in Herefordshire, where the apples are from some of the oldest orchards in the country. The apples are specially selected for their crisp flavour, which in turn creates a traditional tasting apple juice.

As part of the "Grown by us" range, the apple juice joins products, including potatoes, onions, strawberries, peas, broccoli and honey, that are grown by Co-operative Farms, or, like cider and beer, made using ingredients grown by Co-operative Farms.

The range offers customers high quality British produce from The Co-operative Group’s own farming business, the largest in the UK and committed to farming in a sustainable and responsible way and to setting high standards in care of the environment and wildlife.

Apples grown at Tillington are already used in The Co-operative’s Tillington Hills Premium Dry Reserve Cider and its Truly Irresistible English Apple Crush drink.

Christine Tacon, Managing Director of The Co-operative Farms, said: "We are very proud of our ’Grown by us’ range. Its continued growth and success shows how customers appreciate the benefits of our position as both a food retailer and a farmer. The Truly Irresistible British Cox’s apple juice is a worthy addition to the range."

The apple juice is available in selected Co-operative stores from today (Monday 9 March 2009). For details of Co-operative stores stocking the product, customers can call the Co-operative Customer Careline on (freephone) 0800 0686 727.
