Mark Farmer (44), who is currently Operations Director at the Youth Hostels Association (YHA), will take up his new post on 20th August 2008.
He replaces the current Chief Executive, Helen Houghton, who is standing down due to family commitments.
Mr Farmer, who has worked for the YHA since 1984, will take the over reins of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society at an important moment in the organisation's history.
One of his responsibilities will be to lead the development of the Lincolnshire Events Centre and the £7 million EPIC Centre, which will be in use for the first time at the 124th Lincolnshire Show next week (18th and 19th June), having only just been handed over by the builder R G Carter.
"It's a really exciting challenge and I'm very much looking forward to it," he said.
"There's a great opportunity to take the vision of the EPIC Centre and develop a thriving business to support the Society in its charitable aims of fostering agricultural innovation and climate change education.
"The Lincolnshire Show has been the focus of the Society for almost 140 years and it will remain at the heart of what the Society does," Mr Farmer added.
"There's a perfect synergy between the Lincolnshire Events Centre and the annual Show, which is the jewel in the Society's crown."
Ian Walter, Chairman of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, is delighted with the appointment.
"We had many applications, and a very strong shortlist, and we chose Mark because of his experience in managing a large business and his enthusiasm for what the Society and the EPIC Project are aiming to achieve," he said.
"Mark has worked his way up the YHA and his roles have taken him to some beautiful rural parts of the country, including Wales, North Yorkshire and the Peak District.
"Having contributed to the YHA as Operations Director for five years he is looking forward to taking up his new role and we are very pleased to have secured his services."
Mr Farmer, who has two daughters, will be moving from Derbyshire to Lincolnshire and will be visiting the Lincolnshire Show on Thursday 19th June.
