Tong Peal agricultural sales manager retires
Well known to growers throughout the country, Jerry Gill has retired as agricultural sales manager after 26 years with leading potato machinery manufacturers Tong Peal.
"Jerry is a charismatic person who has been well respected by the farming community," said Charles Tong, managing director of Tong Peal. "He has a keen sense of humour and a very controlled manner that makes him popular with customers."
Mr Gill joined Tong Peal from a regional tractor distributor, and has sold potato and vegetable handling and grading machinery to some of the UK’s largest growers.
At the retirement presentation at the firm’s Spilsby premises, Mr Tong presented him with golfing tokens from the company while export sales manager Barry Ledger handed over a globe and a silver cigarette lighter on behalf his work colleagues.
Mr Gill, who is married with two daughters, lives at Kirton Holme, near Boston.
• Over the past month he has been working with Nick Woodcock who joined Tong Peal to succeed him as UK sales manager. Mr Woodcock has almost 20 years’ experience in the potato and vegetable sector working with A E Goodacre & Son at Donnington and then the Burdens group, which acquired the business.
