Trailer Full of Tainted Beef Stolen

December 31, 2007 - A trailer truck full of 14,000 pounds of ground beef was stolen last Thursday, some of the beef was contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

The truck was stolen from a Fort Worth meat production company according to officials.

The meat was in the trailer on the parking lot of American Fresh Foods. The ground beef is sold to grocery stores and other food service companies.

The chief food safety and quality assurance officer for the company, Tom Biela, stated that tests found that some of the beef was contaminated with E. coli, so it was pulled before being sold.
