Charlie Dimmock, Britain’s sexiest gardener and celebrity supporter of the Woodland Trust’s ‘Tree for All’ campaign, is lending her support to its latest joint initiative with Woodland eggs.
The aim of the campaign is to plant 12 million trees over the next five years—the equivalent of one tree for every child under 16 in the UK. For every pack of Woodland eggs sold, one penny is donated to the Woodland Trust. Over the last year this initiative has raised nearly £30,000 for the charity.
Ms Dimmock was interviewed on Radio stations around the UK where she urged non-gardening listeners to support the campaign by purchasing Woodland eggs.
“If you don’t fancy getting outside and getting dirty with tree planting—which is what I love—you can get down to your local Sainsbury’s and support the Woodland Trust by buying a pack of Woodland eggs,” she said.
The Woodland egg brand—marketed by Deans—was the brainchild of BFREPA vice-chairman, John Widdowson, who undertook an extensive tree planting scheme on his farm in Devon to encourage his birds to range further.
