SAME Deutz-Fahr UK has launched two new mid-range SAME Explorer tractors.
Both rated at 90hp, the size, features, performance and price of the SAME Explorer 95 Classic and the SAME Explorer 95 New are expected to appeal primarily to livestock and mixed farms throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
SAME Explorer 95 Classic tractor
Based on the best-selling, but now superseded SAME Explorer II 90 TOP model, the Explorer 95 Classic has been designed principally as a "no-frills" stockman's tractor offering dependable, all-round performance from a tractor which meets the latest EURO II emissions regulations.
This has been achieved by the use of a new liquid-cooled, four cylinder turbocharged SAME Series 1000 engine to power the Explorer 95 Classic tractor. The previous Explorer II 90 TOP model had an air-cooled engine which could not be developed sufficiently to meet the tougher emissions requirements demanded by the EURO II regulations.
Drive to the wheels is via a 40 forward/40 reverse speed Synchro Power gearbox with a switch-activated electro-hydraulic splitter providing high and low ratios within each selected gear. Maximum travel speed is 40 km/h.
The tractor also features 540rpm and 1,000rpm standard and economy power take-off speeds, a 4,800kg rear linkage lift capacity and disc brakes on all four wheels, a safety feature which will be appreciated particularly by those hauling trailers on the public highway or operating equipment on hillsides and sloping ground. Hydraulic pump output is 56 litres/min and there are three external auxiliary double-acting spool valves. Front linkage and PTO can be specified as extra-cost options.
The silent-block suspended, flat-floor cab is identical to that fitted to the previous Explorer II 90 TOP and includes SAME's Check Panel dashboard for instant assessment of essential tractor operating data.
Standard comfort features within the cab include ergonomic control lever positioning to the driver's right-hand, an adjustable steering wheel, suspended pedals and electro-hydraulic engagement of the power take-off, four-wheel drive and differential lock. The doors, which open within the overall wheel track, provide wide, convenient access for those needing to get on and off the tractor frequently during the day. Height to the top of the cab is 2,600mm. Air conditioning and an air suspension seat are available as options.
Explorer 95 Classic has a retail price of £23,460 in standard build.
SAME Explorer 95 New tractor
Packing an identical SAME Series 1000 water-cooled engine as the Explorer 95 Classic described above, the Explorer 95 New is rated also at 90hp.
In addition to satisfying EURO II emission regulations, the newly-developed engine fitted to the two latest SAME Explorer models offers greater structural strength, lower noise levels and improved torque characteristics over its air-cooled predecessor. The optimised air/fuel mixing ability of the engine's combustion system which has helped cut exhaust emissions also produces significant reductions in fuel consumption.
The Explorer 95 New's engine is equipped with an electronic governor with a hand throttle conveniently located on the middle cab upright and a push button to save and recall engine operating speeds.
An all-new Agroshift 60 forward, 60 reverse speed transmission is used on the Explorer 95 New tractor. It comprises a five-speed synchronised gearbox with each main gear selectable across four different mechanical ranges. In addition, the transmission features three power gears (high/medium/low) which can be selected on-the-move by means of an electro-hydraulic switch mounted on the main gear shift lever. Also offered for the first time on any SAME Explorer tractor is an optional forward/reverse hydraulic power shuttle controlled by a lever mounted beside the steering wheel. As on the Explorer 95 Classic, maximum travel speed is 40 km/h with four wheel braking provided by oil-immersed disc brakes front and rear.
Rear power take-off speeds are 540, 540 economy, 1,000 and 1,000 economy, all electro-hydraulically push-button activated, as are the tractor's front-wheel drive, differential locks and 1,000rpm front PTO option. When fitted, the front linkage and PTO assemblies are fully integrated into the front support, so there are no mounting brackets to impede the hydrostatic steering action. Hydraulic pump output is 56 litres/min and the rear linkage lift capacity is 4,800kg. The tractor has four external spool valves activated by cross-gate (joy-stick) control levers integrated into the right-hand cab console. Hydraulic trailer braking is standard.
Instantly recognisable by its bold bonnet styling with four headlights, the Explorer 95 New is equipped with a SAME-built luxury 'Q' cab with tinted glass and a high-visibility opening glass panel in the roof. Air conditioning is optional as is an air suspension seat. Overall tractor height, fitted with the standard cab, is 2,650mm.
The tractor is retail priced at £26,770 in standard build.
