UNITED KINGDOM-UTTOXETER CATTLE MARKET.
Regarding the proposed JCB site revamp, have those concerned thought about including the new Uttoxeter cattle market on it?
If part of the site were made available for a new market, it would be close enough for people to walk up to the town to do their shopping. It’s got to be considered, surely. It would be of great benefit to the town and its traders.
Sir Anthony Bamford is a supporter of farming, having large farms of his own. The Bamford business was based on farming, so surely having the market on the site would be the right legacy for Sir Anthony to leave the town.
The proposal for the cattle market at present is a waste of time. The site is far out of town and there’s no real enthusiasm behind it anyway.
The old site was the heart of the town; the revamp was a missed opportunity. What have we had so far? Houses, a car park and councillors squabbling on a regular basis. The councillors refer to Uttoxeter as a market town so how about they put the market back in the town.
