A 20-year-old Gillette received up to seven years in prison for a string of burglaries and shooting cattle, including some carrying calves with championship rodeo bloodlines.
Adan Rafael Ruiz was sentenced Friday for aggravated burglary, property destruction and five charges of burglary.
Ruiz was charged with stealing thousands of dollars in property, including several guns, which he and two other men used to shoot six cattle grazing in a pasture.
The men killed four Red Angus cows worth $1,300 each and two Bramer Cross cows worth about $2,500 each.
The Bramers were carrying calves sired by a prominent bull on the Professional Bull Riding circuit.
