UNITED STATES-MEAT RE-CALLS JUST KEEP HAPPENING.
Alaska Sausage Company Inc., in Anchorage, Alaska, is recalling some 872 pounds of sausage products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Friday.
The products being recalled include:
3-pound packages of "Alaskan Sausage Links with Reindeer Meat" bearing the package code "02709," a sell-by date of "03/22/09" and the establishment number "EST. 17866" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
1- and 3-pound packages of "German Brand Cooked Bratwust" bearing the package code of "02709," a sell-by date of "03/02/09" and the establishment number "EST. 17866" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The sausage products were produced on Jan. 27, 2009 and distributed to institutions and retail establishments in Alaska.
The problem was discovered through the firm’s microbiological sampling program. FSIS has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.
