WORLDS LARGEST KOSHER ABATTOIR.
The former head of the worlds largest Kosher abattoir in Postville Iowa, is currently in prison on charges of bank fraud and federal immigration offences. After his one million dollar bail was revoked in December.
Sholom Rubeneskin, is now facing an addition 99 charges of bank fraud and 35 more federal charges of immigration offences.
The problems began in May of last year, when federal officers raided the meat plant and arrested 397 members of staff, who were in fact illegal immigrants, they were sentenced to 5 months in prison.
Making matters worse and more deplorable in the eyes of many, was the fact that the company was taxing these workers despite paying them below minimum wages, the pocketing the tax they deducted.
The company is now in liquidation however, been allowed to process small numbers poultry
